It may be true that a dog is a man’s best friend, but according to an online study from All About Pets, women were more knowledgeable when it came to answering questions on common misconceptions about pets. All About Pets is a new social network for pet lovers, and you can take the quiz, especially if you’re a male pet owner, to find out how your pet knowledge measures up. This site has been referred to as the “Facebook for pet lovers.” Britain’s pet charity, The Blue Cross, created it so pet owners can meet other pet lovers and share tips on how to raise a healthy, happy pet.

The Pet Food Manufacturer’s Association says more than half of the households in the UK own a pet. The 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturer’s Association says 63% of households in the US own a pet. Social networks are beginning to bring these people together like Doggyspace, which launched in July and provides a place where people can chat on behalf of their pets. All About Pets and Doggyspace are just two of the many social networks that will be developed for pet lovers.

Issues with new and old pets come up all the time. Sometimes they are familiar issues that you already know how to deal with, while others are unfamiliar.
