Un-Friendly Foods for Pets

There are so many good things to feed your four legged friends, but there is a long list of foods that you should keep away from Fido! Surprisingly, fruits and veggies that are exceptionally healthy for humans can harm and even kill your pets. Here’s a list of what and why you shouldn’t feed your fuzzy pals certain foods:

Grapes and raisins can kick start kidney failure in animals and it only takes a handful of raisins to kill a dog.

Onions are an extremely risky veggie that cause anemia in animals.

Chocolate is an obvious no-no and can cause seizures and death. The more pure the chocolate is, the more dangerous it is. Coffee, tea and other caffeinated beverages have similar effects as chocolate, so keep them away from the animals!

Nuts! Specifically Although peanut butter is the exception to the rule, acadamia nuts and walnuts can trigger muscle weakness and even paralysis in canines.

Fat and fried foods are dangerous for dogs in excess and can cause pancreatitis.

Bones, yep, bones! Cooked bones can splinter and permenantly damage organs. Raw bones, such as oxtails and knuckles are okay as long as they are supervised while eating and always be certain to take the last piece away before the dogs can swallow it.

Tomatoes are harmful to pets and can trigger tremors and heart arrhythmias, so put away the pasta sauce!

Avocados take a toll on a canines lungs and heart, so keep this healthy human food out of the doggy dish.
