You should be very careful when clippering a dog the first few times. There are several areas where it is easier to cut the dogs skin if you’re not careful. Ears on uncropped dogs, armpits, underbelly, testicles, etc. These areas should be clippered with caution- it’s very easy to cut them in these areas! You should also test the blade prior to grooming- make sure you have the right size blade. For instance, you shouldn’t use a #40 blade where a #10 blade should be used.
Also be sure to keep the clippers cool… a can of Kool Lube can help with this. Hot clippers can easily cause clipper burn, which will lead to a nasty sore.
