How to freefly a parrot (Georgio’s version)

Please, this is not how you should train your bird. You can try this but it may not work. It depends on your bird how he wants to fly outside and also about FAITH and TRUST. My second macaw, Kara, is untrainable this way. She don’t want to fly in harness so I just go with her out (in harness) as much as I can because I need her to feel comfortable outside and after some time maybe I will just let her. I believe she will fly to me because she likes to be with me and if she will fly away a believe Georgio will show her the way back to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I've got a 4 month old blue and gold macaw that I've hand reared. I've just started indoor flight training with her, she's doing so well. I hope to fly her outside one day with my other bird

This is actually such a cool video, one of my faves in free flight, Iโ€™m currently working on free flight training and this is truly inspiring. Mine keeps getting stuck up trees haha. Can I ask, how old was your bird when you got him/her and also how long did you have him before you started free flying?

phelanvelvel….. are you in the writing, journalism etc career field by any chance or just couldn't bite your tongue on this particular subject? (sorry if that comes across as a rude thing to say/ask but I have just read your comments and I'm interested) I also couldn't help but notice how against and opinionated you seemed? also how many times you made a point to mention and assume Brody's suggestion of a website about freeflight training was a biased suggestion and that you have a friend in Indo that does his training differently &possibly better YET then add that you couldn't compare as you don't know exactly how either of them train??? I would recommend watching all three maybe? there's clearly NO right or wrong way, if the end result is a successful&safe freeflying macaw/bird then they're all right in there own way. Each to their own, Everyone has different ways and preferences in achieving a desired goal. I am a proud macaw mummy (harness user) and I think you need to get yourself your very own companion bird……………you seem to have all the information and done the (unbiased, of course๐Ÿ˜ƒ) research ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚โœŒ

Harness training is awesome but please know that if the end goal is to free flight then this is a very detrimental way to go about it with your bird, learning to fly with a harness is not a stepping stone to free flight it's actually taking many steps backwards and this is because they are not able to naturally develop essential flight skills, instead learning restriction etc.

It looks like you got there in the end which is great but can go so wrong for new people watching and wanting to replicate the process which unfortunately does not always go well.

I highly recommend the science based free flight course for anyone interested at http://www.libertywings.com it will give you all the essential foundational knowledge you need to know about how and when to start free flying ๐Ÿ™‚

You have a beaaaauuuutiful bird though, stunning! very clear how much love you have which is the most important thing ๐Ÿ™‚

    Well done!
