Boston Dog Show Weekend

The 2008 Bay Colony Dog Show is a tradition in the Boston area, and Pedigree says its “one of the oldest and most prestigious sporting events in North America.” The event will be held at the Bayside Exposition Center throughout this weekend, so if you live in or near the Boston area, this is a show you shouldn’t miss. With over 150 breeds, there are too many reasons why you should attend.

The following AKC dog clubs in Boston are presenting this event: Eastern Dog Club, Ladies’ Dog Club, Middlesex County Kennel Club, Yankee Golden Retriever Club and Shrewsbury Dog Training Club. The Yankee Golden Retriever Club will be performing agility shows on all four days of the event. On Saturday and Sunday only, there will be a Canines for Disabled Kids demonstration, a Rescue Parade (features rescued dogs who are living a better life) and a chance to ask AKC breeders any questions. There will also be special guests during these days too. On Saturday, Monica Collins, syndicated columnist and radio host, will have a Q&A session. On Sunday, Karen Norteman, “Dog Show Newbie” blogger, will answer all of your dog show questions.

You can even get a backstage look at what takes place before a dog show event. The process to groom them and prepare the dog for the show is a process, and you might even get a chance to talk with some of the groomers, handlers and owners.

Since Christmas is right around the corner, this is a great opportunity to do your holiday shopping for your pets and pet loving friends. With about 100 booths, you are bound to find the perfect presents.
