During the month of November, Happy Tails Books will donate $5 back to Winnipeg Boxer Rescue from any book you buy at the following website:

Sharing books from the “Lost Souls: Found!” series, which contain over 50 heartwarming stories about adopted dogs, is a great opportunity to help raise awareness about dog rescue. It will surely be one of the most memorable and appreciated gifts you give this year.

“Hollywood Barks!” is revered Hollywood Studio Wrangler Kathryn Segura’s memoir, which brings to light the fact that many Hollywood “star” dogs are actually rescues! The “tails” within are funny, poignant, and a must-read for any dog-lover or movie buff.

Previews of all books are available on the website. Please visit today to pick up some books – your purchase will help us to give our rescue dogs a merrier Christmas!

PS: Happy Tails Books is collecting stories about Boxers for their upcoming book, “Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories About Boxers,” which will be published in 2010. The deadline for Boxer story submissions is January 31st, so please send them your Boxer story today! Submission guidelines are available on the website.

Wpg Boxer Rescue is a breed specific dog rescue. I started this rescue in 1999 when I got a white boxer named Harley. I soon realized that breeders would not keep the boxers as they were and are still not a standard to the breeding ring. I have since adopted out over 50 dogs to wonderful new homes.
I do this for the love of the dogs and not for any monumental gain. In fact we are currently fundraising for a little blind boxer who needs to have her eye removed. With each dollar we can get donated to her – we can assure that she has a painfree life. I hope that you will read allot of books and that you can know that you have made a difference to a little dog in need!

Cookie is a 16 mth old boxer who had her head run over by a car when she was 6 mths old. She was left to die tied up in a backyard. Some wonderful person took her and brought her home and then called Wpg Boxer Rescue. Since july Cookie has been to several vets for shots and to be spayed. The last visit to the vet inspired a second opinion regarding her blindness. She is indeed blind in both eyes and has a cute little head tilt as a result of the trauma. The last vet noticed that Cookie has what they call “spastic Entropion”. Basically her eyelashes are growing inwards and rubbing directly on her eyeball. As you can imagine this would be similar to a grain of sand or eyelash in your eye, very sore. We are going to reduce imflamation and offer some pain control for her until we can go ahead and remove the eye. This is also a major operation but will be better in the long term for Cookie. So this why we are fund raising. This whole vet process will cost upwards to $500 or more. We have already had many donations and hope to have her well looked after very soon! So if you can donate we thank you!
