With all of the dog t-shirts, sweatshirts, bandanas and other accessories, it’s tempting to want to dress your dog as well as pet loving celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. The bling and charms turn your pet into the prince and princess that they were born to be, and everyone can see how much you care about your pooch. This week pets will be strutting new styles for Pet Fashion Week, which will be held August 23 and 24 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building located in New York City, New York.
Ruff Ruff and Meow will be exhibiting their new designs at the event. Even if you can’t make it to the runway to preview the latest trends in doggie wear, you can purchase some stylish tees and tanks online for your dog. Ruff Ruff and Meow’s designs for 2008 include new funny sayings such as “Only Child” and “My Dad is Single.”
Of course, Pet Fashion Week is about the runway, but other events will also be held. The ECOuture charity fundraiser will be promoting environmentally friendly pet fashion in a way to encourage environmental responsibility among businesses and animal shelters.
There will also be the Les Poochs Poodle Challenge, which will display the talents of some of the best styling professionals, and the goal is to create unique styles for the Poodle. Also eighteen student finalists will showcase their designs for the themed competition called Dog in the City: Pet Accessories for the Urban Pup, which uses crystal from Swarovski Elements to enhance collars, leashes and other accessories. Finally, a tradeshow will present essential dog products like toys, foods, treats, bedding, fragrances and other grooming supplies.
This year’s fashion show will be a sight to see, but if you can’t attend, you can still check out the exhibitors’ designs online so your dog can be stylish for the fall/holiday season.
