Descending | How to Teach Your Bird To Fly DOWN

The “process” of training is very different than the end result. They are different journeys. For this particular situation, it’s working out better for trainer Jamieleigh to do the training part (the process) and Patty to be part of the end result (cuing already learned behaviors and rewarding accordingly)

As a trainer, I enjoy the process sooooo much that I sometimes assume others will love it just as much as me. This was a good reminder for me.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ ABOUT ME ๐Ÿ‘ฉ
I married a magician who is also a bird trainer and now we travel the world together doing what we love with who we love, and spreading what we love. We do everything from fundraising magic shows for any good cause, parrot training workshops and masterclasses, consultations (in home and over video-chat and phone) – anything to spread the art of magic and the knowledge of clearly communicating better with the animals in our lives.

Morgan, jinx, Rocko, and Poco are very beautiful birds!!! Big birds; awesomely beautiful birds, i just can't get over watching them on YouTube. I can't understand why people are abusive to such exotic creatures, they are so sweet!!! Please keep doing what you are doing, you're doing an awful lot of good!!!

I never woukd gave thouggt about the fact tgat you have to train them how to fly. It so neat to watch. I love watching Jinx and see how he knows just how to move and angle his body to do what needs to be done and then watch Morgan figuring it out very quickly i feel though.

I'm absolutely loving watching this series on Morgan. She has done so well. She's gorgeous on flight. Jinx too, but I'm captivated with Morgan because of her foot. It isn't an issue for her and it's beautiful to watch that.

When i got my cockatiel he was able to descend very well. In the training process i would get him to fly from my highest shelf onto my bed and he did it no problem at all..

I wish i knew where he came from…

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I've just got this old budgie (he's about 6 years old) off this family who were giving him away because they were moving. Anyway the bird is gorgeous but I don't think he's ever been handled. I've had him for a good while now and he's still not used to me. His body language looks beyond terrified, heavy breathing, erratic flying, feathers pulled in every time I come within feet of the cage. I'm trying to be very patient with him, talking to him sitting near to his cage which he's now fine with if I sit very still for a good 30 minutes and talk to him but feeding, watering and cleaning is a nightmare and so stressful for him I don't know what to do. Is it worth trying? I just don't want to stress him out pointlessly. I could give him to an aviary but he's always lived indoors, never lived with other birds and I can't imagine how hard the journey would be for him as it's quite far away. Any tips? Honestly I love him and I really don't want to give him away without at least trying. I've owned other budgies from similar circumstances but never this old or terrified of me.

I really enjoy how you explain your teaching style. You are a good teacher. I also love the fact that your dog and daughter are just hanging around and doing whatever. ๐Ÿ™‚

Morgan sounds like she flaps harder on ascending paths. Is this because she weighs more than Jinx or her inexperience?

I cannot thank you enough for this video! I won't ramble, but wow! I never understood why our green cheek conure could fly to the top of the kitchen cabinets, but I always had to climb up to "save" him, not realizing that he needed to learn how to descend! I can't wait to be able to get all of your training programs and cookbooks. I have followed you guys on YouTube , since before you had your daughter. Gizmo loves to watch Bandit and Jinx, and he has started.say Bubba! He is so eager to learn, and has had many great accomplishments, since we rescued him last August. I cannot waited to share our successes and failures. Thank you! Hugs from our flock in Illinois to yours! โค๏ธ

Wow! Great video! I always love watching Morganยดs progress in her confidence and flight skills. I have a question for you, because you obviously are a skilled bird trainer who possibly could help me with my budgies. So, i am wondering if i could send you an email or something explaining my situation with my birds and you could give me advice on how to be better, or if you dont do that kind of stuff, which i of course would understand. Again, love watching your vids, especially with Morgan<3

I wish Makani would be able to learn to fly that well… He only flies when he gets spooked (horses and cows for ex.) and then he just crashes into something on onto the ground when his power is out. But since he is not my bird anymore I cant help him.
