Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for your family, friends and, of course, your pets. After you have eaten all of the turkey, stuffing, potatoes and pumpkin pie that you possible can, sit down, rest and enjoy a dog show. You might get ideas on what type of dog you want to add to your family, or you might pick up some tips on how to take better care of the dog you have.
NBC will have their annual Thanksgiving Day special, “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina®” from noon to 2 pm in all time zones. It will be broadcasted after the Macy’s Parade.
This two-hour special will feature the famous Uno, the Beagle, and the Dogue de Bordeaux. Uno won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year and has become quite a celebrity since winning. The Dogue de Bordeaux is the newest breed to compete in dog shows. It’s a muscular and stocky mastiff that is originally from France and was used for hunting, fighting and protecting people. Its coat is red fawn to light fawn in color, and its temperament is perfect for individuals looking for a strong, affectionate dog as a companion.
In addition to showing different breeds of dogs, the program will also have segments on dog and pet care. Before you know it New Year’s Day will be here, and it will be time to make our resolutions. Maybe you have been considering putting your dog in a show or learning ways on how to keep your dog more active. Watching this dog show is a great way to learn how to make your ideas turn into reality.
During your Thanksgiving dinner, remember to give thanks for your loyal companion and enjoy this year’s dog show. With 150 different dog breeds, the competition for Best in Show will be an exciting event to watch.
