I just found this pet related video on YouTube … and thought you might enjoy it!

YouTube Description

www.sitmeanssit.com There are many different ways to teach a dog the “stand” command. In this video, I am teaching it with a square box and the ball. I throw the ball and when the dog returns he has to have his two front feet on the box. The elevation of the box stabilizes the dogs front feet for the stand position. He learns in essence that his front feet on the box releases the ball again. This dog’s name is gauge. He is an eight month old Labrador retriever that I recently rescued.

What do you think?

@ArcBaliAngel In most competitive obedience circles of various dog sports, the dog needs to demonstrate a ‘stand’ command. A lot of times, he has to also be able to do it out of motion. In the hunting dog circles, they refer to this as ‘whoa’ and it’s basically the same thing with a different name.

Fred could you make a video on “what to do when you first bring home a puppy”? That would help me so much! Thanks again for all these videos.

Fred, I watch your videos each daily and find myself wondering – do you use the e-collar to train these commands or are you training using different methods?
