Awesome, the distractions have always been a hard part for my dog. This gives me some good ideas to try so maybe she will want to stay with me instead of wanting to go and visit people and other dogs so much when I am trying to practice agility. I’m just not as exciting as they are, same with the agility stuff, the ignoring people are more fun for her lol.

I love the backing away part – since I’m also using a kind of mixture of Pam’s LLW and the Helix Fairweather Polite Walking method to teach LLW and both use walking backwards to establish focus and position, this fits right in for the client and doesn’t “force” her to learn something completely new, just another use for an already learned human technique.

Emily, it saddens me to see the relatively lackluster number of views your awesome videos get…may i suggest linking to Shay Carl aka shaytards, to gain more exposure in the youtube community…i only say this because it is my firm belief that you should have your own show on animal planet rather than that ego maniacal narcissist Zak George…ugh, cannot stand that guy!

@cguymartin Oh yes, i support this on Animal Planet! 😀 I got my 2.5 years old dog three days ago and i have just started with clickertraining. He goes sort of nuts when seeing some dogs and not everytime it’s ok to go and say hi for whatever reason. Instead of holding him back i’d love for him to come to me instead. Ill try this Emily! Thanks!!
I have to check for a “conversion” video and see if you have one. He’s brought up with “no” etc, so right now im on the borderline and that’s bad 🙁

Great video! I love seeing new dogs being trained in the videos. Just wondering when the video for boundary/barrier training is coming. I’m gonna order your video seminar soon and I’m hoping to learn alot more between these vids and the seminar. Keep up the great work!!!
