YouTube Description

This video is on how to stop your puppy biting you. The technique of clicking the absence of biting was shown to me by my mentor Kyle Rayon, who is one of the most amazing and innovative trainers, though she is very modest! Dogs use their mouths to interact with their environment, so it is normal for a puppy to want to bite your hands or clothes. However in our society it is highly inappropriate. To train a puppy to stop using their mouth when interacting with humans is simple. All you have to do is set up training scenarios where your puppy would normally start biting and train an alternate response- calmly sitting, lying down, standing, or walking with a closed mouth. First you would start with the least arousing game- so simply just a reaching hand. As you reach, click or say “yes” and then feed a treat. As the puppy is successful you can progress to more and more arousing stimulus. You should not allow your dog to be man handled or petted roughly. Petting should not only be rewarding for the human but for the dog as well. However at some point in your dogs life, someone might get to your dog before you can stop them and be overly rough. You can prepare your dog for these situations by playing training games. But when these situations do occur in real life, respect your dog, and get them out of the stressful situation. Do practice handling exercises for grooming as well as vet visits regularly… Tips- These exercises should only be done by ADULTS. As children can

How can i stop my small dog from jumping up at and nipping dogs bigger than him. Hes fine with small dogs, and hes fine with dogs of all sizes when theyre in a big group, because he has played with a group of dogs and been fine, running around but if theres a dog on its ownt hat comes over hell jump up and nip its face… Ive tried all sorts, backing up and leading him away, Rewarding him for being calm around the approaching dogs, using a kissy noise to get his attention on me. help!

I tried this but the problem I have is my puppy 11 weeks does not appear to find anything rewarding enough to keep interested or show interest. I cannot seem to find a stimulus for my puppy, I have tried his tugs, squeakys, balls, chicken (raw and roast) beef, ham, bacon, kibble, his dinner, cheese, yoghurt, peanut butter, milk and custom dried meat treats. Nothing appears to give him the interest needed to continue training 🙁

Great idea! But just an observation, the treats seem to be coming too fast. The dog might instead be learning: presence of you = treat, instead of presence of hand close to face + not biting = treat. The dog’s head was bent down towards the floor all the time, it was not really noticing your hand. Let it notice your hand, and not bite, then give it treat.

Hi kikopup, thank you for all your videos! I have watched them all (more than once). I have a 9 week old cockapoo and have begun clicker training. What are my options when he goes mental for the bottom of my trousers, biting and hanging onto them?! He plays tug-of-war with them and doesn’t let go no matter how much I ignore him! Many thanks, James from England 🙂

when your puppy is mouthing you say “NO” or “OUCH” with a loaded voice.this works because if your puppy is playing and biting the other puppy it will bark and making the puppy to think that biting hard will lead to lose their friend.
    this will work try it.

this doesn’t seem very effective…your treating her every time she chomps your hand to get the treat…
