This is a guest post from my friend Jane from Blog Catalog who just started her own new website Pet Rescuer Central. Please take a few minutes to check out this site and add it to your Favorites
Hi Everybody
I recently had to relinquish my beloved pet. I am still in deep pain yet I wanted and needed to do something. Turning my focus outward seemed to be the only thing I could do. This led me on a search for anything I could find on pet adoptions, pet rescues, and pet relinquishment.
One article I found gave the top 10 reasons for pet relinquishment and there I saw myself. The number one reason dogs and cats are relinquished is because their owners move. Due to circumstances beyond my control I had to move to a place where pets weren’t allowed. Although I had found a home for my dog before my move more circumstances interfered which led to the relinquishment.
Fortunately, I did not have to take her to a shelter. My vet has a private facility which places pets up for adoption. This has been a heart wrenching decision and I was determined to learn more so I might help other people who love animals like I do.
I became interested in pet rescue and decided that a part of healing process would be to pass on information to others. I know I’m not alone in losing a pet yet there are also animals who are simply abandoned as well as those who are left homeless after a natural disaster.
There are many organizations dedicated to pet rescue and/or adoption yet my main interest lies in the small non-profits who do not always receive the funding they need. People tend to donate to the more well-known organizations so the smaller ones are struggling.
There may not be a lot I can do due to limited finances and transportation but I can help spread the word … which is why I started a new blog called Pet Rescuer Central.
My mission is to spread information about pet rescues/adoptions and to steer people to the resources they need whether they wish to adopt or are in need of a rescue. Personally, I wish I had known more before I had to give up my beloved baby.
Thank you.

Thanks Beth for nice words. It’s all for a good cause, and I enjoy pushing readers towards other “Earthlings who love animals” too 🙂
