I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I take him for walks, we have problems. He hates other dogs and other people sometimes even growls at us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!

I like that the dogs you use are not already trained or have high energy, etc. I feel like this makes it more relatable.

So in the house he's perfect it's when we go outside….. I almost can't control arm and if he slips his collar I end up just having to wait for him to come back…

Im struggling with my 7month old Alaskan malamute who gets really aggressive during our walks or when I try to run with him. Hell grab the leash and bite it and aggressively play "TUG OF WAR" while facing me. To me It feel more like hes angry or frustrated or something. It can be a bit scary. I carry a rolled up paper with me and when I see this behavior about to start I take it out in front of him. Sometimes he stops.. like 60% of the time hell stop.
Hes taking puppy training classes at PETCO too.
And why to I have to CONSTANTLY discipline him for digging at the carpet and tiles in the bathroom? Why wont he listen? No matter how many times I scold him (OR hit him on the bum with the paper) Ill leave the room or go out and when I come back, there he is with a torn up rug and rug padding (Thank GOD HOMEDEPO) has the Exact same rug I have in my apartment 🙁
I dont know what to do (I dont like hitting him with a newspaper all the time.. He knows hes done a bad thing because when I point to it or and say "What did you do?" he has this guilty look on his face and often lays on his side exposing his tummy to me or licking my chin)

We just got our dog this past summer, and was about 18 months old. Not much training. I am learning they are like unmedicated ADHD kids!

How long did it take you to work up the patience to do this? You are so assertive and calm and positive. Any dog will listen to you. I'm the opposite. I'm anxious, annoyed, impatient and not assertive at all.
