About Sirena Van Schaik

* If you asked Sirena Van Schaik to describe herself, you would probably watch as her eyes slid to the floor and her cheeks flushed from the embarrassment of it all. She would turn her toe into the ground like a young girl and say quietly, “Well, there’s not much to say.”
* Despite those words, however; there is quite a bit to say. Sirena Van Schaik was born in British Columbia, Canada and was the youngest of 4. She has two older brothers and an older sister who spent a great deal of their childhood doing what children do best, torment their siblings.
* When she was 18, Sirena moved to Ontario Canada and continues to reside there with her two wonderful boys and artistic husband.
* She graduated from Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario with an honors degree in Early Childhood Education and spent 7 years in the field before leaving it to pursue her dream.
* And that is where you will find Sirena today. She is busy pursuing the dream of being both a freelance writer and a novelist. She has written for many online sites, and has been published in Chicken Soup for the Child’s Soul and True Volume 2.
* When she isn’t busy with writing and family, then she enjoys her time with her many pets. Sirena is the proud owner of two Labrador Retrievers, Indi, a yellow and Petey, a black and is also the proud owner of two cats, Lobo and Leena. She has worked and cared with animals all her life ranging from chickens to horses, bearded dragons to rabbits and she loves being with them.
* She is very happy to be here writing for the PetLvr blog and all the “LVR” Series of blogs and hopes to share with you advice and all the trials and tribulations to being the proud owner of her own pets.
