Pet Fashion Week 2009

It’s that time of year again for pooches to be strutting their stuff in the Big Apple. The 4th annual Pet Fashion Week in New York will be Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23. The show as well as other events will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion from 10 am to 6 pm. In addition to fabulous pet clothes, there will be other features you don’t want to miss.

Along with the fashion show, you should also check out the tradeshow. Last year, there were 1,800 buyers, so you might want to get there as soon as the doors open to get the pick of the litter. There will be accessory, grooming and lifestyle products that you might want to stock up on for winter or have on hand to use as gifts for the holidays.

The Les Poochs Poodle Challenge will feature talented groomers, and you can get haircut ideas for own poodle. This year the contest will require the professional stylists to create artistic patterns out of the dogs’ hair. If you want to watch, the challenge will take place in the Altman Building on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 2:30 pm. The competition should be exciting, because the stylists will be competing for more than $70,000 in awards and prizes!

As a consumer, it’s important to know which companies excel in their pet product designs. The PFW Lifestyle Innovation Award will be awarded to a company that shows the best performance in pet dinnerware. Last year’s product designs were functional, innovative, convenient and modern, so you might find the perfect food dispenser for your pet and décor.

Despite the economic instability, the New York Pet Fashion Week is planning to have quite an extravaganza. Even if you and your pet are on a tight budget, you can at least preview some of the new products that haven’t hit stores yet!
