JACKSONVILLE, FL — Eight bulldogs, seven snakes, and four birds were hustled out the front door in the wee hours of Monday morning from a Westside pet shop. The Fish Factory Pet Center is now warning other pet stores to be on the lookout for anyone trying to peddle the animals.
Roger McCall is a retired police officer who owns the pet shop off Normandy Boulvard. McCall says the burglars were bold. The burglars first attempted to break the window on the door and left before police responded. Two hours later, they came back to finish the job that was recorded by a security camera.
The pet store is convinced the burglars will attempt to peddle the stolen animals for cents on the dollar.
McCall says, “These animals are hard to care for. [We’re] very sure [the] suspects are going to try to unload these animals as soon as possible.”
