Watch as a seasoned horseback rider demonstrates how to stop a horse on a line in this free online video about horseback riding. Expert: Kelli LaBar Bio: Kel…
im pretty sure if your pulling on the lunge line the horse is going to come into the circle, and if the horse is in a canter it wouldnt be very pretty.
This is so NOT professional! This is NOT how to really train a quality horse!! I’m sorry, but I have see WAY better trainers and I think “expertvillage” choosing to post this was a HUGE MISTAKE. This is NO “EXPERT”!!
I’m not trying to be rude, but this really didn’t teach me at all. She was just showing what her horse can already do, not how she taught him to do it.
my horse used to do the same thing hlhetrick , how i stopped this was, standing in the middle i asked him to walk, if he just turned to me or walked up to me i would put the whip to his front and wave it, backing him out of my circle, then asked him again, if he still did not respond, i would step farther behind his shoulders, so i was about even with his hips and walk a small circle inside, gradully working up to standing still in the middle.
i think if your hrse isn’t listening to you you should lunge your horse with someone walking aongside them. wen you say whoa have the person stop the horse till they stop. same for walk, trot, canter till they understand it.
Agreed i have watched a few of these videos, and at least if your going to call yourself experts then do what your teaching right!!! have your horse already trained! meatheads! holy
I think someone needs to teach kelly how to teach her horse to have manners on the line. and they need to teach her how to lunge. I had a 2 1/2 year old pretty much unhandled filly I bought within 5 months I had her lunging all pretty much to voice commands and to stop all I had to do was raise my hand a bit and say whoa and she would stop right away with no hiesitation.

not all horses respond to pulling my horse will get angry if you keep pulling the lunge line

I wanted to learn to train your horse TO lunge, not HOW to lunge!
LowkeeLT
Thank you! Your comment taught me more about getting a horse to lunge than this entire useless video series.

Oh god that’s the easiest horse to lunge ever so of course all you have to do is say whoa a pull.

To stop, I was taught to put the whip in front of them and make a brrr sound…

try a lunge whip, you dont actually hit them, but twirl it around near their haunches, typically keeps them going…

That horse just doesn’t respect her or care what she’s saying and she doesn’t even correct the mare when she starts walking without being asked to
