What if we don't have treats? Use peanut butter or cheese?

Doing this tomorrow. They already kinda come cause I give them food and call them all the time anyway without really trying to train more just "talking" to them.. Make it orderly like here and I think they'll learn fast..

    Man, I really want a rat <3
I used to have two of them- Oreo and Cocoa- when I was around 4-5, but I didn't understand how smart they were and all they did was bite me and lounge in their cage all day.
But now, at 13, I am researching them and every day understanding them a little more. When I have a house of my own, I will definitely get one of these cute little furballs <3

(Not insulting rats by calling them furballs. It's something that happens in the Warriors book series- cats fondly call eachother furballs occasionally- like, "Oh, you stupid furball" said Willowpaw, ect. Anyway, I'll be leaving now ☺️)

What if they just don't come? Do you just wait a bit and try again? Reward if they come, but leave them be if they don't? My bubs don't seem to understand what I'm trying to communicate bless them. What happened is that they only come when hungry 😛 I first tried to train using their food as a shaker. So I shook the container then fed them, but now I have a clicker and was going to try speaking "come", then clicking when they come and give a treat immediately. Maybe I'm just confusing them however.
