You guys say to be consistent with your puppy but I don't understand some of your advice. For example, in one video you say to be consistent with your dog by telling them at all times to stay off the couch. Never let your dog get on the couch with you when you feel it's right then scold your dog for being up there any other time. This supposedly sends mixed signals.

Now, in this current vid, you're saying to tell the dog "no" when biting your hand, but then give him something to bite on. Does this not send mixed signals like it would in the couch instance?

The point I'm conveying is that if you can show a dog the difference between biting your hand vs biting a toy, then you can show them the difference between siting on the couch when you're on it vs siting on the couch alone? Someone educate me, I may be thinking about it wrong.

Puppies bite because they're getting use to their teeth. Some bites can be very harmful if a puppy has sharp teeth. Because puppies are playful, they may continue to bite when you tell them to stop, which is why you'll need to use rewards when they display proper behavior. You can get some helpful information about rewards in this blog post.http://practicalpuppytrainingbook.com/index.php/2019/03/04/practical-rewards-for-puppies/
