November 9, 2005—Humboldt squid can grow up to six feet (two meters) long and are bold enough to attack sharks, let alone humans. So you might wonder why someone would want to get closer to the marine predators. But finding new ways to approach the elusive “red devils” in the wild is exactly what one team of scientists set out to do. Watch as an underwater filmmaker comes face to beak with this deep-sea giant.
