With a deaf ferret, I pretty much just replace the click of the clicker with a treat. Timing has to be precise with a deaf ferret. Giving the treat instead of the click will let your deaf little one know that she is doing what you want. You can also follow the treat with a good cuddle :O)

    Oh wow thanks so much!!!
Molly is 10month and deaf i sort of manages to make her come to me when we r on a walk by hand signal. wich is great . and also if she was naughty she knows a different signal.
I wonder how i can train her to give me high five. any ideas? she stads up for treats but thats about it.

    thaks a lot 🙂

someone else suggested using a flash light instead of laser pointer, my ferrets don’t seem to be able to see the laser pointer anyway

Try putting Panda in a crate while training to help limit distraction. When he comes to the door, open it and pat the ground. He will have to come toward you to get out and when he does, give him a treat. You can use the laser pointer also if its working for him at all. Repeat this and eventually back up more and more. Overtime you can try without the crate and see if he has progressed. I hope this helps!

My ferret Panda is deaf…I tried the laser pointer idea to train him some sort of recall but he is not focused at all. He keeps wandering off. Any advice?

Its just the tip cut off of a regular paper party hat. My boyfriend then made a little tiny elastic band for it to go around his head :O)

Also, it would be amazing if you could do more videos on how to train deaf ferrets, specifically the hand signals and praise system? It would be so amazing!

Thank you thank you thank you! This gave me the courage to decide to train my deaf boy. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to because he wouldn’t recognise praise properly.
