Dogs In Handbags and DogBeds

There’s an interesting article on the Bagbunch Blog today about dog carriers entitled What’s The Obsession With Dogs In Handbags?

Personally, I would never want to carry my dog while out on a walk .. I mean, they have more feet then I do! Of course, during the late fall and early spring we have been known to put a sweater on Sophie because she is so little. I mean, if there were a loud barking dog or if it just seemed prudent to pick up the dog and carry them until out of danger, well .. yeah I do that. Oh, and um, yeah I guess I should mention that I do transport them in a Bike Cart and bicycle them around Victoria Beach in the summer .. // okay okay! I’m probably one of those people you love to hate who would carry their own dog in a dog carrier bag while out for a walk!!

From the Bagbunch blog (my top picks)

Dog in a Bag Pros

1. No need to pick up your dog’s crap in the street, it goes straight in the bag.
4. It’s harder to lose a handbag that barks.
9. You can get away with taking your dog into a shop, how cool is that!

Dog in a Bag Cons

1. You look like a dick!
3. Dog suffocation risk.
4. You’re out of luck if you have a cat / ferret / fish / lobster etc. (actually, maybe you could keep a lobster in a handbag… but what if it snips the strap?!?)

(see rest of the article for more Pros and Cons, as well as historic recap of putting dogs in purses and other interesting facts!)

One things for sure .. after any walk .. after the treats .. our dogs like to lie around in their “Donut Pillow Bed Bed” and watch TV for the rest of the night in front of the fireplace!

I saw someone with a dog bag today and she looked like she was using the dog as a substitute baby. In your Dog in a Bag Cons” list; – Dog suffocation risk, it worries me for her future baby

I think a real pet lover should to put the pet in to a bag, unless for an emergency, despite the risk/danger I believe it is also very uncomfortable staying in the bag .
