When are you going to do crate training part 2?

In the service dog community this is definitely not how we train it but it’s an interesting idea for sure.

Any chance you could identify the steps taken to teach the tail tuck? I would love to teach this to my dog with a 2′ fluffy tail that usually is straight out when he’s lying down.

@RaeneDay How do you do it?

@BeagleDaily Well the goal in the SD community is primarily for the dog to tuck in the tail by moving the tail naturally (this video is sort of the equivalent of asking a dog to grab hold of his own leg with his mouth in order to move it to a different spot rather than just moving the leg). The goal is to just tuck the tail, not by using the mouth (in the SD community. I realize this is a trick).

The way I teach it is by lightly stepping on the tail just to apply pressure (not painfully please!) and then when the dog tucks in the tail you click and treat.

Would have been better if you’d shown the steps. And no, it’s not the same in service dog work.
