My dog LADY loves to run while I ride… only I have her on a long leash with a bungie cord for shock. She goes when I say “go” and she turns right or left when I say “right” or “left” she also slows to a caution when we approach intersections when I say “easy” Its a blast!
weirdoguy
hey same with me except the bungie cord but thats a good idea actually i might try it

you’re a dumbass. keep your comments to yourself. he’s showing people how to handle their dogs properly in many situations and you’re commenting about some bulls**t of hiring an expert because YOU ARE ONE. If I can fix something myself I want to learn to do it myself rather than hire and pay an uptight prick like you.

The dog was frightened ? thats not a good sign.

Tell your best friend that it’s time to go on a “bike ride” and he/she will get excited as all hell. Don’t worry about a leash, or walking a block. Just expect them to haul ass after you, and if they don’t, then you treat your dog poorly. All dog’s love to explore, especially with their caretaker. More often than not, you’re exploring with them, and not nice versa.

For all we know, the dog was simply a prop. You may be a dog trainer, but you are no legal expert, and what you have written is very close to libel.

Not even close, but for all we know you’re a bit of a jackass responding to year old youtube threads.

This is joke! There are better ways to walk your dog on your bike than what you so basically described. You definitely want both hands on the handle bars and a short leash attached to the seat post. This way the dog cannot knock you over when he sees a squirrel or other dogs. Two products are made specifically for the purpose: The Walkydog Leash and The Springer Leash.

please be careful – start with short rides or skating times, a dogs paw pads need to get used to running on pavement. I went roller blading with my dog and one of her pads was skinned after, I felt horrible.

This is very good exercise for your dog. Better than any running or jogging can do. If your dog is fast and fit enough i suggest going full speed iwth your dog, that gets them really fit :D.
I go bike riding with my dog everyday. She literally stays at a fast running pace for hours on end. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a dog. Your dog will become solid muscle in no time.

Oh and you don’t need a leash. Your dog won’t wander away from your bike because of the fear of you leaving it behind.
DaemonTFO
@bluegama500 Well he did say he did that in the beggining so his dog wouldn’t be affraid from the bike anymore and obviously see it as a normal object in a new surrounding. And why bring fear into your dog? Make it feel safe and calm, then gradually get excited from your bodylanguage and actions. Bikeriding is a great exercise and fun for both you and your dog.
Answering your question. A leash would only be required if your dog is timid to the bike.
DaemonTFO
Bleh forgot, if the state of mind continue other things can be done instead. I rollerbladed a lot when I took care of my friends husky. He hates bikes, 😛 Any “not too loud” transportation that increases your speed is good to use to exercise with your dog. + It makes it easier and more fun for you too.
bluegama500
@DaemonTFO Why would the dog be timid of the bike? Anyway thanks.
DaemonTFO
@bluegama500 I’ve just experienced dogs who are o.O So from personal experience I mentioned it.
bluegama500
@DaemonTFO Ok.

He missed one important thing when you use a leash. It is important to makes sure that the leash short enough so the dog won’t run ahead of you. Your dog won’t be able to see the front tire and he will not know when you turn or try to stop.
I know this from personal experience from walking my dog for the first time!! Luckily he didn’t need any practice i was shocked that he was doing so well. (But i did walk without a bike for 30 minutes.)

The bike is my BEST friend for my dogs! I foster a lot of dogs and this helps with the high energy types. I have a video of me biking with 3 of my fosters at one time. I agree with the comment about making sure not to give too much slack with the leash. Learned it the hard way with a border collie I fostered!
