    you should never physically correct your dog, IF you insist on making physical contact a part of training you should use a magazine of other object not hands, whenever a dog does something undesirable you merely correct them by using a “cold shoulder” of sorts, If your dog acts out verbally correct them then turn aside from them for a second or two( until the dog is calm) this will also help the dog trust you and be more obedient to vocal commands instead of fearing being hit.
