Nice video with some great advise. I recommend getting a crate with a divider panel. This allows you to adjust the length of the crate and saves you from purchasing multiple crates as your dog grows. If you do get a crate with a divider panel, always buy the crate for the adult size of the dog and use the panel to adjust the size of the crate.

Your background music is not important to the video and it distracts from what is being said.

Scolding or otherwise punishing a dog for going inside will actually teach the dog not to go when you are present. The dog won’t infer that the offense is the location rather than the act itself. So you’ll wind up with a dog that will hold it while they on a potty walk with you, and let go when you are not present, inside or not. Punishment after the fact is even worse. The dog will not know why someone would be vile enough to rub its nose in it. It will learn quickly to fear the human.

Is this guy really a vet? How disgusting that a vet would condone crating a dog. Quite simply, if you don’t have what it takes to train a dog, or if you don’t have the appropriate lifestyle or property, then don’t get one. A crate will never be a den, as dens have no element of compulsion, nor doors that lock behind them.

What a bunch of horsepucky. I have trained 5 dogs – all five were (gently) scolded for peeing in the house and taken outside. All five learned not to pee in the house quickly (weeks to a few months). None of them was timid – they were my best friends and I never locked any of them in a box… If you don’t have the patience to own a dog – then don’t. Best thing is to spray white vinegar on the pee and lead them up to it (don’t rub their noses) they hate the smell and they get the message.

lol at idiots hating crate training. I use it when i can’t supervise my dogs. Withint minutes of bringing the crate home and setting it up my dogs hopped in and loved their crates. Its their own space. I didn’t close the door on them, just let them get used to it. It’s their own private space. Ill put them in there when i cant watch them. I will NOT be keeping them in there 24/7. Thats cruel.
