* Reality Show Host Partners with Pro Plan® to Help Pet Owners ‘Do More’ for Their Pets

02.10.2010 – ST. LOUIS, MO. – Pets are more than just animals to their owners; they’re part of the family. For those pet owners who get so much from their pets, Purina® Pro Plan® is helping them “Do More” to give back to their pets with a new series of helpful Web videos and tips on www.DoMoreForPets.com featuring Jeff Probst.

The Pro Plan® Doing More™ for Pets program is a series of short Web videos that provide pet owners with new and creative ways to care for their pets. Jeff Probst, Emmy Award-winning host of the hit television show Survivor and an avid animal enthusiast, stars in the videos along with two furry friends, Cooper, a yellow lab, and Zoey, an American Shorthair cat. Each video gives an overview of a different suggested activity for owners to experience with their dog or cat in a fun and safe way. Pet lovers can view the Web video series at http://www.DoMoreForPets.com.

“I collaborated with Purina Pro Plan® on this project because we share the same philosophy when it comes to caring for pets,” said Probst. “Pro Plan is geared for pet owners who get so much from their pets they do all they can to give back to them. That’s the kind of pet owner I am, and hopefully pet lovers see it come to life in this series of educational Web videos.”
A total of nine videos will be released throughout the spring, three of which are currently available on www.DoMoreForPets.com, including:

• “Our Outdoors” – Hiking and camping with your dog
• “Wild Instincts” – Nurturing your cat’s inner wildcat
• “Road Time” – Safely taking your dog on a car ride

The remaining six videos – “New Companion,” “Unique Needs,” “Calming,” “Morning Vitality,” “Swimmer” and “Socializing” – will be added to the Web site – two per month – in March, May and July. Like the first series of videos, they provide tips on common activities or problems pet owners confront, such as keeping pets calm during storms or fireworks, introducing a cat into a home with a dog and jogging safely with your pooch.

“We make it a priority to do more to help enhance the lives of pets and their owners,” said Heather Gettys, senior brand manager for Purina® Pro Plan®. “One way we do this is providing optimal nutrition for pets, but we also want to be a trusted information resource for pet lovers. We feel this Web series is a great way to provide short bursts of helpful and meaningful tips to pet owners on their time.”

In addition to the videos, the Web site offers a variety of ways pet owners can ‘Do More’ for pets, including supporting the Purina® Pro Plan® brand’s signature Rally to Rescue® program, which has helped small rescue groups find homes for more than 300,000 pets across the country during the past five years.

The Purina® Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® program is a commitment to raise funds and awareness for pet rescue organizations nationwide. The campaign addresses the needs of smaller pet rescue organizations that place countless dogs and cats in forever homes every year.
