Big Cat Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charity dedicated to the care of exotic cats. We provide a permanent home for unwanted wildcats and we educate the public in order to eliminate the causes of abandonment and abuse. The images of exploitation and horrid conditions in the video above were filmed in places where we had been asked to rescue big cats; but we cannot save them all. Your voice for better laws and your tax deductible donations will make it possible to end the abuse. With your help we can end the suffering and give these great cats a home for life. I can’t wait to visit your facility in person one day. I love what you guys are doing as far as educating the public about cats

how come you never bait, lock and pin the tigers in order to clean them properly? i.e; digging out urine spots, removing bones that draw ants? pulling stool from the outside is not sanitary, nor is neglecting to rake the enclosures. you give 501c-3 organizations a bad name-but like everything else-your money (profits) talk and not your responsibility to the cats!

@tikercat pin the tigers???!!! This sounds dangerous! If we need to get into an enclosure to perform maintenance our cages are built in two separate sections so we can just call them over to one side while the other person closes them off, no food needed in most cases as we have a good relationship with our cats. Why is removing scat from the outside not sanitary? It is removed just like if we went in the enclosure and picked it up?

@tikercat We have very high standards of animal care, our cats are happy, healthy and not stressed. We don’t have any contact with our cats or breed like some so called “sanctuaries”

@JyrTwinz you do realize that the footage of the tiny cages is of places the cats were rescued from right? BCR keeps them in much larger enclosures than they were previously in, and they can’t release them into the wild.

@JyrTwinz the people’s houses before are very crowded and dirty. But the Big Cat Rescue, they actually make the environment more comfortable and spacious, just like the wild. And also there are a lot of non profit organizations that do this, they get the big cats and help them recover nicely and then they send them back to the wild.Where they naturally belong.

Except for the ones that have deficiencies, what makes your operation different than a zoo? Are they not still in cages? Are they not still captive? Why not return them to their home countries? No matter what you do here, in the States, it will have zero impact on what the governments of other countries do. Most profit from the sale of these animals. We both know that. Once extinct in the wild, captive animals will be all there are. I don’t mean to be critical, but, where’s the differenc?.

@Nicodemus98 They’re still in cages yes, but they are in much better environments form what we have rescued them from and if they weren’t rescued they would still be in these horrible conditions or dead. None of our cats are suitable for release back into the wild (which very very rarely happens) They associate people with food, are not scared of people and would become nuisance animals, they are also inbred and cross bred their genetics aren’t 100% so would be of no benefit to wild populations

Very touching. A worthy cause. I love cats, have 3 little domestic ones, and the big cats are just beautiful. I can’t imagine such a noble creature trapped in a basement. It really should be illegal.

if you love these animals, let them go back to the wild…..it is not fair to cage these animals….this is wrong.,I visited the fort worth zoo and it made me feel so sad as to how these animals look sad and depressed.

    Let them go….

  20. BigCatRescue
    |

@Msbea345 We wish this could be done and it was that easy, but this isn’t an option. Releasing captive bred cats into the wild is very rarely done and if it is the animals are strong genetic examples of that species, our cats have mixed genetics from cross breeding sub species and inbreeding etc.. So what we do is rescue these animals form bad conditions, provide them with a quality home for the rest of their lives and educate the public about their plight in the wild and in captivity 🙂

How sad. My house-cat comes alive when there is new stimulation. I can’t believe there are people out there who think animals like these LIKE living in cages.
