What Is It?

Classic Meets Modern
The German Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg

Hamburg opens a new chapter: From the 1st to 4th of May 2008, Hamburg’s Derbypark hosts the 79th German Jumping and Dressage Derby which includes two additional series this year: the RIDERS TOUR series, and the Grand Prix of Hamburg will be for the first time part of the GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR.

These two modern sport series will be held alongside the traditional and fascinating Jumping Derby.

The German Jumping and Dressage Derby will have a total prize money of 500,000 Euro whereby the Hamburg Grand Prix alone holds 300,000 Euro prize money. No doubt that most top-class riders will be attracted to the cosmopolitan city of Hamburg.

This year’s Derby is the 79th edition of Hamburg’s historical horse tournament which was and remains a first-grade sport and social event: thrilling, exciting and spectacular, and yet despite its “age” incredible young and modern. Tens of thousands will come to Hamburg’s Derbypark to witness the dressage riders exchange horses, and to cross their fingers for the jumping riders when they have to master the Irish Walls, the Pulvermann’s ditch and the famous Birkenoxer and Holsteiner’s Jumps.

The German Jumping and Dressage Derby is the trendy and popular meeting point in Northern Germany for the horse scene as well as for the spectators. No other class fascinates more than the highly difficult parcours and the dressage category with the horse exchange.
